Any part-time position is considered a permanent shift and it is possible for part time shifts to become full-time as positions become available.

Employment Benefits

Paid Time Off

Employees accrue paid time off each calendar year.  During the first year of full-time service the employee is entitled to 192 hours of Paid Time Off which includes the 12 holidays listed below.  This increases to 240 hours in the second year of employment.

 

Medical Coverage

Avidd Community Services of NJ provides an individual major medical insurance policy for eligible employees.  There is a monthly employee contribution amount.  Employees may choose to add family members at their cost.

 

Dental Coverage

Avidd Community Services of NJ provides an individual dental insurance policy at no cost to eligible employees. Employees may choose to add family members at their cost.

 

Workers Compensation

Avidd Community Services of NJ provides a Workers Compensation insurance policy to all employees.

 

Disability Insurance

Avidd Community Services of NJ provides temporary, short-term disability insurance through a private plan with an established insurance company.

 

Retirement Plan

Avidd Community Services of NJ provides a contribution to an SEP/IRA pension account for all employees with at least three years of continual employment. The contribution is four and a half percent of all earnings within the first six months of each calendar year.

 

Staff Training

All employees undergo training with regard to responsibilities as a Direct Support Professional, including first aid, CPR, medication administration, prevention of abuse and neglect and the understanding of the developmental disabled.

Avidd Community Services of NJ employees are also eligible to participate in the College of Direct Support, which provides competency-based training. All courses are offered online and free of charge to each employee.

 

Paid Agency Holidays

Full-time (40 hours per week) staff members have 12 paid holidays:

  • Veteran’s Day
  • Columbus Day (observed Monday)
  • Thanksgiving Day

  • Your Choice Day

Part-time and substitute staff members who work on Thanksgiving and Christmas are paid double their hourly rate.
